The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program encourages low-income seniors to purchase nutritious, locally grown produce which, in turn, helps support our community’s farmers, by providing $24 worth of checks from the Indiana Department of Health. The program is administered locally by the United Way of Perry County.
To be eligible for the program, participants must live in Perry County, be willing to shop at the Tell City Farmer’s Market, must be at least 60 years as of October 1 or be a disabled person, over 21 and under 60 years old, enrolled in an area agency on aging program or living in housing for the elderly with congregate nutrition services.
Each eligible household will receive a check booklet worth $24 that may be used June 21 through October 16, 2010. All applicants must have an income of less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Eligible participants’ annual income may not be more than:

Eligible participants may sign up for the program on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the United Way of Perry County office at 1012 – 31st Street in Tell City. Distribution will be on a first come, first serve basis.
Any farmer wishing to participate in the program may sign up with local Market Master, Janet Damin by calling (812) 547-3266. A short application must be completed and sent to the Indiana State Department of Health to become an authorized FMNP participant.
