Strengthening Families and Individuals

    Provides positive development for young girls through a variety of activities and community service

    Assists youth and adults in their development by conducting educational programs

    Matches adult volunteers with children from single parent homes to serve as friends, companions and to give guidance

    Providing monthly family programs and weekly open centers for families and caregivers

    Provides a variety of literacy programs to families and individuals

Caring for People in Crisis

    Aids victims of domestic violence with shelter, counseling, legal and emergency room advocacy
  • Martin’s Cloak Food Pantry   812/357-5405
    Provides food and clothing assistance in northern Perry County

    Provides help with emergency needs such as clothing, rent, fuel and utilities
  • Widow’s Barrel Food Pantry   812/547-7486
    Provides emergency assistance with food, coats, and prescription advocacy

Improving Health and Well-Being

  • Companion Care Program and Hospice Program – PCMH   812/547-7011
    Provides assistance to individuals who need short term help in their homes and support for the terminally ill and their families
  • Perry County Council on Aging   812/547-8115
    Assists the senior population with light housekeeping, shopping, banking, prescription pick-up, and transportation to medical appointments

    Provides nursing care, home care aides, mental health nursing, medical social work, dietary services, wound care, as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapies

Programs of the United Way of Perry County

    • Holiday Helpers United Christmas assistance collaboration to help families during the holidays
    • Days of Caring volunteer opportunities for non-profit organizations twice a year
    • Stuff the Bus multi-county school supply drive to help families in need as school begins
    • Perry County Food Coalition coordinates services for the following five pantries in Perry County:  Martin’s Cloak in Siberia, Jasper’s Food for the Needy in Cannelton, Widow’s Barrel, Council of Agencies, and Adventists Community Services in Tell City.
    • FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card program that helps uninsured families save up to 20% on prescription medications
    • Dolly Parton Imagination Library literacy program that provides free, books to children ages 5 and under in Perry County
