Donations to the United Way of Perry County will be funding the following community partners and UWPC programs in 2012:

    Matches adult volunteers with children from single parent homes to serve as friends, companions and to give guidance

    Instills values in children to make ethical choices over their lifetime in achieving their full potential by building character, citizenship, leadership and personal fitness

    Aids victims of domestic violence with shelter, counseling, legal and emergency room advocacy

    Aids residents with emergency assistance, provides online assistance to sign up for food stamps, FAFSA, voter registration, and tax preparation and, hot meals through Table of Blessings

    Providing monthly family programs and weekly open centers for families and caregivers

    Assists youth and adults in their development by conducting educational programs

    Assists the senior population with light housekeeping, shopping, banking, prescription pick-up, and transportation to medical appointments

    Provides service to people with disabilities so they can live as independently as they want to, and provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to lead productive, fulfilling lives

    Provides nursing care, home care aides, mental health nursing, medical social work, dietary services, wound care, as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapies
  • Widow’s Barrel Food Pantry   812/547-7486
    Provides emergency assistance with food, coats, and prescription advocacy

Programs of the United Way of Perry County

    • Holiday Helpers United Christmas assistance collaboration to help families during the holidays

    • Youth Day of Caring volunteer opportunities for non-profit organizations once a year 

    • “Stuff the Bus” multi-county school supply drive to help families in need as school begins

    • Perry County Food Coalition coordinates services for the following five pantries in Perry County:  Martin’s Cloak in Siberia, Jasper’s Food for the Needy in Cannelton, Widow’s Barrel, Council of Agencies, and Adventists Community Services in Tell City

    • FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card program that helps uninsured families save up to 20% on prescription medications

    • Dolly Parton Imagination Library literacy program that provides free, books to children ages 5 and under in Perry County

    • Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides checks through the Indiana Dept. of Health to income eligible senior citizens to enable purchases at local farmers’ markets with a goal of better health for seniors.
