Stuff The Bus – School Supply drive is held annually in late July for multiple counties in our area. United Way of Perry County partners with Tell City Wal-Mart and the Perry County Junior Women to collect school supplies in front of Wal-Mart from area shoppers. This two day event provides much needed help for area families in need at our area schools each year. The thousands of items collected each year are distributed to families through the local schools. Additional cash donations are collected by United Way and distributed to all participating schools allowing for additional supply purchases for students in need.

Youth Day of Caring – Perry County is blessed with residents who love to volunteer. The Youth Day of Caring is held annually on the first Sunday in November.  The United Way of Perry County recruits junior and senior high youth groups and their chaperones to volunteer to do much- needed work for non-profit organizations in Perry County.  These volunteers perform such tasks as painting, raking, repairing, and cleaning for those organizations.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library – It sounds almost too good to be true…books mailed every month to every preschooler in Perry County for FREE. But it is true and it’s is made possible by the United Way of Perry County and the Dollywood Foundation. By reading regularly to their children during their preschool years, parents are giving them the best start toward a successful education.
Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in to every child enrolled in the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library directly to their home. The children can look forward to new and exciting reading adventures from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library until they turn five years old as long as you remain a resident of Perry County, Indiana. Should the child move outside Perry County, Indiana, the child automatically exits the program. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a FREE GIFT to our children provided by United Way of Perry County! All that is asked of the parents is for them to read to their children…it’s that simple. Registration forms are available at the Perry County Library or from the United Way of Perry County office. Online registration is not available for Perry County

Holiday Helpers United – Christmas assistance for Perry County’s families in need is coordinated each year by United Way of Perry County. Many organizations donate gifts, coats, and volunteer time to make this program possible. The coordination by the United Way ensures that all families who request help are provided with warm clothing, Christmas gifts, and food for their children. The United Way’s coordination also ensures that the children are not duplicated which helps make the resources donated by our generous community stretch even further. Over twenty different groups work together to bring this program to Perry County.

Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program encourages low-income senior citizens to purchase nutritious, locally grown produce which, in turn, helps support our community’s farmers, by providing $18 worth of checks from the Indiana Department of Health.  The program is administered locally by the United Way of Perry County. Checks are distributed annually in early June. The program runs through mid October of each year.
To be eligible for the program, participants must live in Perry County, be willing to shop at the Tell City Farmer’s Market, must be at least 60 years as of October 1 or be a disabled person, over 21 and under 60 years old, enrolled in an area agency on aging program or living in housing for the elderly with congregate nutrition services.
Please contact the United Way of Perry County office at (812) 547-2577 for the current income eligibility guidelines and to register for the checks or to become an authorized farmer with the SFMNP who can accept the checks. Any farmer wishing to participate in the program may sign up with local Market Master, Janet Damin by calling (812) 547-3266.  A short application must be completed and sent to the Indiana State Department of Health to become an authorized SFMNP farmer.

In addition Catholic Charities the Backpack Program are members. The Food Coalition is coordinated by United Way and all food donations are stored at Catholic Charities. We also partner with the National Association of Letter Carriers in their “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive” on the second Saturday of May each year.  Community members may leave non-perishable food items in their mailboxes for pick up.  The food pantry volunteers sort all donations. This food drive helps the pantries restock their shelves mid-year.
