United Way has another successful STUFF THE BUS supply drive
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Wal-Mart, all our dedicated volunteers and to all the generous donors who helped create another successful “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive on July 25 & 26.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the residents of our community who helped support our eighth annual “STUFF THE BUS” school supply drive for students in need.  Donations of much needed school supplies were received for children who may not otherwise have had the provisions needed to start the new school year.  The two day event gathered more than 4,000 items valued at approximately $3,145.  Additional cash donations of a little almost $3,200were also received, bringing the value of all donations to over $6,342 for our friends and neighbors in need.

Buses from Tell City-Troy Township Schools, Perry Central Schools, Cannelton Schools and Perry County Headstart were parked at Wal-Mart during the event to draw attention to the drive.  As donations for each school system were collected, volunteers “stuffed” the buses with the school supplies which ranged from pencils to backpacks.  The supplies will be distributed through the schools to help children be fully prepared to learn as they start the school year. Volunteers helped man the doors all weekend to accept donations.

We would like to extend a huge thank you all our volunteers Patrick and Wendi Rich and daughters, Kris & Stephanie Walsh, Earla Williams, Vicki Bolin, Shelly Gagliardi, Mary Cassidy, Jackie Colucci, Tammy Saalman, Dan and Jane Hayden, Lora Melton, Laura Noble, Cathy Hagedorn, Jane James, Mikki Garrett, Jane Goffinet, Amanda Evans, Becca Etienne, Sandy and John Daugherty, Jill, Dan & Jana Lacy, Debbie, Adam & Elizabeth Dauby, Kelly Vogt, Bob, Stacy, Grace, Wyatt and Ava Kreilein, Pat Jarboe, Wanita Lawson, Casie Quinn, Kelsey Malone, Sara VanHoosier, Shirley Garner, Lauren Blake, Leslie Henrickson, Tomi Jo Utley, Yvonna Holmes, Eric Henrickson, Kelsey Clayton, Lisa Grose, Eric Harris, Andy Sommer, Kayla James, Alicia Conner, Jaci Garrett, Michelle Colemen, Sam Ramsey, Debbie Betts, Amy, Mary & Emma Hollinden, Felicia Meyers, Jamie Powers, Jody and Jace French, Camiren Zellers, Jennifer Chestnut, Audrey Bates, Amanda Cronin, Bryan Taylor, Linda Reed, Shane Richards, Laura Schwartz, Kandy Weatherholt, Lagina Gogel, Dayna Hinton, Michelle Gibson, Beth Cassidy, Joann Benjamin, Brandy Cummins, Justin, Kristen & Miley Martin, Annie Scamahon, Chris Lawalin, Caiti Teague, Avery VanHoosier, Barb Nickles, Donna Shaw, Landon Kellems, Mark Wahl & sons, Tyler & Taylor Howell, Kimberly Haney, Brittany, Noah & Landon Terry, Grace James, Angie Foury, Seth Young and Jerry Smith.  Please excuse any omissions of volunteers who may have forgotten to sign in.

A very special thank you goes to our school contacts, Jan Hayden, Wendi Rich and Jackie Colucci for recruiting the volunteers, organizing the buses and distributing the supplies to the families in need this school year.

Thanks again to the hundreds of citizens who gave supplies or money to help our area children!  Your donations will make a huge difference in a child’s level of success this school year.  If anyone missed the event and would still like to donate to the school of their choice, we encourage you to contact Jane Hayden at Cannelton Schools, Wendi Rich at Tell City Schools and Jackie Colucci at Perry Central Schools.
